    Andrew Elliott

    Mr Andrew Elliott holds a BA (Hons) degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford, UK, and an M Phil degree in Linguistics / Education from the University of Cambridge, UK. He has held various posts in teaching and educational management. In the UK, he worked as a Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, as Examinations Officer at Wolsey Hall, Oxford, as Course Director at Concorde International in Chichester College of Technology and as Principal and Director of Irwin College, Leicester. In Thailand he has held the positions of Director of IES Co Ltd, of Headmaster and Director of Nantawan International School, Bangphli, of Head of International Development at the Regent’s Schools, Bangkok and Pattaya, of Principal International Consultant at Varee Chiang Mai School and of Director of the Centre for International Studies and Continuing Education at Shinawatra University.

    Since moving to Thailand in 1999, he has co-ordinated various international educational projects with a range of parties which include over 40 universities, 25 schools, the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand, the British Council, the British Embassy in Thailand, the Ministry of Education, the Office of the Higher Education Commission, the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, the International Schools’ Association of Thailand and the Royal Thai Police. In February 2017 he assumed the headship of the Sixth Form at Bloomsbury International School Hatyai.

    His interests include local history, comparative religion, anthropology, classical music, international educational accreditation and pathway development and ethnographic research into cross-cultural behaviour.

  • GRAEME SIMPSON (BA, QTS) - Vice-Principal


    Born in London, I was educated at Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys before attending Newman College of Higher Education (now Newman University), where I received a 2:1 and Qualified Teacher Status.

    I began my career teaching English Language and Literature at New Brompton College (now Brompton Academy) in Gillingham, Kent, some 30 miles outside of London, where I was regularly rated ‘Outstanding’, before becoming lead teacher for the newly created Media Studies department. I then became Senior Core Strategist, a mentoring role aimed at providing examination students with additional support across a vast spectrum of subjects.

    Following 10 years teaching in Gillingham, I became Teacher of English at Bloomsbury International School Hatyai in 2015 before taking on the posts of Head of Curriculum and Deputy Headteacher, opportunities that have enabled me to play an integral role in the development of our students and the school as a whole.

    I am passionate about education and believe that every child should be supported and encouraged to attain excellence. As a life-long learner myself, I want to inspire others to expand their outlook and to prepare our young people to excel in a rapidly changing world.

    Outside of school, I enjoy exploring Hatyai’s many fine food establishments, playing football and golf, and reading my vast collection of literature.

  • CRAIG ROWARK (BSc, PGCE) - Primary Co-ordinator

    Craig-Rowark My name is Craig and I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2011 with a degree in Sports and Leisure Management, before moving to the Middle East. During my time in the Middle East I ran my own sports coaching company for children aged between 5-16 in a variety of sports including football, basketball and touch rugby. I moved to Dubai to work at an International School in 2013 teaching Physical Education to both primary and secondary students including an IGCSE exam class. At the beginning of 2014 I went to work in an International School in Penang, again teaching Physical Education to primary and secondary school students. I recently completed my P.G.C.E. at Canterbury Christ Church University.

    Andrea Benson

    Mrs Andrea Benson holds a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art, from Teesside University, UK and qualified as a teacher in 2002. She has held various posts in teaching and educational management over a 14 year period both in the UK and internationally. Andrea moved to Hatyai 2 years ago with her husband and 5 year old son. She has 24 year old daughter who is currently in her third year of a Graphic Design degree at Northumbria University, UK. Andrea has a strong desire to help young people with their academic, personal, and social needs and coupled with a friendly yet professional approach she intends to continue to develop the secondary school ensuring it is an environment where parents, teachers and staff alike feel they are truly valued and have great faith in our education system.

    My name is Andrew Strubelt and I am from Los Angeles, California. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science and from the University of Nottingham with a PGCEi. I have taught English as an Additional Language or EAL for over thirteen years in Thailand and China. My strong points include knowledge of tests such as: Cambridge English Starters, Movers and Flyers as well as KET, PET, TOEFL and IELTS. My passion for teaching can be observed by the tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm in every class. At the weekend, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children.

  • CORRINA GRACO (BA, PGCE) - Pre-Primary

    Ms. Corrina Graco

    My name is Corrina Graco, and I’m originally from a small town just outside the city of London, however, for the past 4 years I have been living in Thailand with my husband and 3 cats.

    We spent 6 amazing years from 2001 travelling to many beautiful countries around South East Asia, and then onto Australia. In 2006 I decided to move back to the UK where I completed my degree in Early Childhood and Youth Studies. I have a passion for working with young learners and have in my experience, have had the opportunity to work with children aged 2-6 years. I have also completed my TEFL which gave me great knowledge and an understanding about Thailand, culture and people.

    In my spare time, we enjoy visiting many places in and around Asia. I love going to the beach, fishing and kayaking, as well as, having a passion for cooking. I really enjoy teaching in an international environment due to the diversity it brings to the school. My aim as a Pre-Primary teacher is to deliver education in a fun environment through spontaneous and structured activities gained through play and the classroom being a stimulating place where children can flourish in all areas of development.

    Hello! My name is Emma Williams. I am the year 1 teacher in Bloomsbury International School Hatyai. I grew up in a rural town in Mid Wales called Builth Wells. I graduated from Cardiff University in 2009 with a BA Hons History degree. I went on to complete my PGCE in Swansea in 2011. I spent four wonderful years teaching in a school within London, but I have always had a passion for travelling and learning about new cultures so I decided that teaching within Thailand would be a fantastic opportunity for a new adventure. I am an extremely passionate, dedicated and caring teacher and I enjoy making learning as fun and creative as possible. In my spare time I really enjoy travelling and swimming alongside visiting the theatre and taking part in amateur dramatics.


    Ms. Harriet Baxter

    Hello, my name is Harriet Baxter and I am excited to be joining Bloomsbury International School Hatyai. I come from a small town outside of west London called Uxbridge. I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University in Kent with a Bachelor of Education degree in primary teaching specialising in special needs which I gained in 2014. After completing my degree I worked in a Church of England school in West London for three years where I became head of History for the school. As well as this, I have had experience as a supply teacher in different schools around London and taught in government schools in Hatyai and Hong Kong. I have also completed my TEFL in Thailand which gave me great insight into the culture of Thailand and the different methods of teaching the English language. I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for teaching children at Bloomsbury.

  • AMY REID (BSc, PGCE) - Year 2 / KS1 PE

    Ms. Amy Reid

    My name is Amy Reid and I am from a town just outside of London called Colchester. I graduated in 2012 with a degree in Psychology from the University of Sunderland. I then moved on to complete my PGCE specialising in special needs at the University of East London which I gained in 2014. I spent a year working in a mainstream school, then a year in a special needs school working with children with severe Autism. I enjoyed this challenge very much although I have always aspired to teach internationally. I moved to Thailand in October 2016 and completed a TEFL course, then briefly worked as EFL Teacher in Vietnam.

    I am very patient, caring and enthusiastic teacher and am very able to differentiate lessons to suit individual pupil's learning style. This helps them flourish as individuals and become well-rounded global citizens. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis, running and travelling around Thailand and its surrounding countries.

    James Mullin

    Hello HatYai, Bonjour Bloomsbury! My name is James Mullin and I am very excited to be joining the teaching staff here at Bloomsbury International School HatYai. Although this is my first international teaching placement, I have also lived and worked in; Paris, France and Sydney, Australia. Having lived in London for the rest of my life, I graduated from Middlesex University in 2003 with a BA in Performing Arts, majoring in Drama and have taught in a range of primary and secondary schools, all over London, ever since. However, I am looking forward to working in a school where I get to teach both age ranges at once. My teaching ethos can be best summarised by a quote from Albert Einstein: "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge".


    Mr. Scott Macleod

    My name is Scott Macleod and I come from Portsmouth, England. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary History from the University of Bedfordshire and gained my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (International) from the University of Nottingham. During the past ten years, most of which was in Thailand, I have taught students from primary level through to IGCSE English as a second language and IELTS. Before coming to Hat Yai, I worked as a primary teacher at an international school in Myanmar. As an educator, I enjoy the challenges of working with learners of all ages. My teaching philosophy is to promote high-quality education through a positive child-centred learning environment, where every student is able to actively engage with the surrounding world and school curriculum. I have travelled around a large portion of Asia, but consider Thailand to be my home – I have a lovely Thai wife and two boys, one who is studying in Year 7 and the other who was born in Hat Yai last year. I have found Hat Yai to be a great place to bring up my family and look forward to further exploring the surrounding area while working at Bloomsbury International School Hatyai.

    Hello Bloomsbury! My name is Mr. Clare and I’m from the UK. I studied Primary Education and have taught in the UK, Spain, South Korea and Thailand. I have already been in Hat Yai for two years but this is my first year at Bloomsbury. I love asking questions and I’m hoping to bring an enquiring mind to the year five class this year. I’m passionate about active learning and have high expectations of all students. We will cover a great deal during year five and learn lots of new skills too. In my free time I like to travel and eat new foods, spend time outside with my dog, drink coffee and read. My motto for year five is “what do you think?” I want to encourage students to form their own opinions and be inquisitive in their learning.

    My name is Kantanamanee Kaewlam (Kru Prae), Primary Teacher of Thai. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education at Thaksin University. I have 4 years experience teaching Thai. I have a passion for teaching Thai to preserve the language and raise awareness of the value of the Thai language.

    Thai language is part of a beautiful cultural identity in terms of its unique characteristics, values, attitudes. I believe that through language we can gain a sense of cultural identity and self-respect, which is essential in all children's development.

My major is Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. I hold a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's degree in Education. Also, I have a teacher's certificate in China. As a communicator of Chinese culture, I hope more and more children like Chinese,like China.     Hello, my name is Ross Miles and come from Bournemouth in the south of the UK. I graduated in 2012 with degree in Music from Plymouth University specialising in composition. I moved to Reading near London to teach Music and Maths in a secondary comprehensive where I ran extracurricular clubs such as guitar, song-writing and numerous other activities which contributed towards the Duke of Edinburgh programme. I’ve greatly enjoyed my first academic year at Bloomsbury and excited to move onto the next. My lessons are full of active and independent learning to create engaging lessons in a cross curricular environment.

  • JONATHON ALLINSON (BA, PGCE) - Year 8 / English

    Jonathon Allinson My name is Jonathon Allinson and I come from Newcastle, England. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Hull before gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the same institution. Since achieving qualified teacher status I have lived in Thailand, teaching at one of the largest government schools in Hat Yai. My time in English and Thai schools since graduating has led to me teaching a unique range of subjects and cultures, something I have thoroughly enjoyed.I believe the experience I have gained from teaching in both the UK and Thailand stands me in good stead for the challenges that teaching at Bloomsbury International School has to offer. I hope to apply my adaptability to different school environments and knowledge of the English curriculum, as well as a true passion for teaching, to my role.

    Rita Peverall

    My name is Rita Peverall and I am from a town near Milton Keynes, England. I graduated from Leeds University in Maths and Management in 2015, and decided to use my passion for the subject to teach. After being successful in applying for the TeachFirst programme, I began studying towards my PGCE alongside teaching full time in a challenging secondary school in Huddersfield. I am very excited to start teaching Maths at Bloomsbury this year, and to explore East Asia in my free time. I believe that giving students the confidence to take risks and think creatively in maths allows them to develop a fuller understanding and enjoyment of the subject. Using a variety of tasks and activities, I hope that my students leave the classroom as successful mathematicians who share my passion for the wonders of numbers.

    Born in New Zealand and raised in the rich international cultures of Brunei and China, I gained a BSc in Psychology at Aberystwyth University, United Kingdom. As a result of completing my PGCE in Chemistry with Balanced Science, I taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics as well as BTEC Science in schools across both Wales and England. Joining the diverse team at Bloomsbury International School Hatyai, I am excited to inspire in students a genuine interest in science, contribute to the development of their individuality and further explore the magnificent culture of Thailand.

    My name is Adam and I come from Hartlepool, UK. I am a graduate in Graphic Design from Northumbria University, and I gained my PGCE in Applied Art and Design from Edge Hill University.

    This is my third year of teaching at Bloomsbury International School Hatyai. I have also taught at schools in Liverpool, St Helen’s and Wigan in the UK.

    I have a broad range of skills across Art and Design that I integrate in my lessons, including: printing, 3D design, ceramics, textiles, mixed media, digital media and illustration. I am passionate about creativity; in particular Art and Design.

    I believe that creative education is integral to the development of well-rounded students, as art enables us to participate more fully in the world around us. It develops openness and an appreciation of culture in young people.

    My name is Ryan and I was born and raised in Saskatchewan Canada. After completing my Bachelor of Science in Geography I was eager to get out and explore the world. I came to Hatyai in 2007 and fell in love with the weather, the culture and the lovely people. I have been happily teaching here ever since. I find the world to be a fascinating place filled with interesting people, wonderful stories and breathtaking experiences. My goal in teaching is to encourage my students to be just as inspired by our shared human experience as I am. Together we can better understand our past and look brightly towards our future. I feel both excited and fortunate to begin my third year at Bloomsbury International School Hatyai. In closing, I would like to ask everyone to always remember these two things: 1) Our world is amazing and 2) Never stop exploring!

I graduated from Taylor University with a degree in Business Management and worked as a manager at a textbook distribution company before acquiring my teaching license in Business Education from the same university. I then taught business technology at a high school in Indiana, where I also coached American football and coordinated a cadet teaching program. After my first international teaching experience last year in South Korea, I am excited to be a part of Bloomsbury this year. I am passionate about teaching Business and ICT as well as assisting students to further discover their areas of talent and passion, in order to give them purpose and fulfilment.

  • JESSICA EVANS (BSc) - Learning Mentor/Thinking Skills Teacher

    My name is Jessica Evans , I am originally from a small town in Essex called Canvey Island. I graduated from the University of Plymouth with a BSC in Biomedical sciences. After graduating I started to work at The King John school in Essex, where I specialised in exam technique for A level Biology and Chemistry as well as GCSE science. During the summer holidays I carried out volunteer work at a local medical centre in Maetaman, Chiang Mai. This experience gave me a great insight to Thai culture and spurred me to make the move to Thailand. In 2016 I completed my TEFL course in Thailand and began working at a school in Nakhon Pathom before moving to Hatyai. I believe the key to students success in education is developing their passions and developing essential thinking skills which they can apply to every subject they learn. As well as teaching my subject I love to share my passion for dance and gymnastics.

  • SAMANTHA WILKINSON (BA) - Cover Supervisor / Photographer

    Samantha Wilkinson

    Hello, my name is Samantha Wilkinson and I come from Reading, Berkshire in the UK. This is my first year at Bloomsbury International as the Cover Supervisor and Photographer. I studied in Southampton, gaining a 2:1 in BA Photography in 2013. I worked for 3 years in a photographic studio outside of London as an Associate Photographer and Photoshop Retoucher, specialising in Newborn Photography. I left in 2015 to work independently as a Freelance Photographer and pursue my career in the education system. For the past 2 and a half years, I have been working as a Cover Supervisor and Photographer at Mary Hare School for deaf children in Berkshire. In addition, I was trained to be a Youth Mental Health First Aider and worked with a wide range of SEN children. Working closely alongside the Wellbeing Officer, I mentored students who suffered from mental health issues. With extensive knowledge across all subjects, I am committed to student wellbeing and learning at various academic levels and ensuring lesson continuity during staff absences.
